Claudio Rotta Loria was born in Turin in 1949 and is one of the representatives of Italian programmed art during the sixties and seventies. His artistic research develops through cycles of works, characterized by the constant implication of space, object and environment. This project takes on a unitary character over time. In the first decade of his experimental activity, Rotta Loria investigates the problems of visual, programmed and kinetic structurality, as well as the poetic value of geometry which manifests itself through minimal processes of perceptive and sensorial stimulation in relation to the surface of the work and its relationship with the light. The first works of the "Surfaces with luminous interference" cycle, to which the artist dedicated fifty years of work and which constitute the subject of this exhibition, date back to 1968/69. In 1989, MOMA in New York appointed Claudio Rotta Loria to design Apologue.
