(Milan, 1 March 1898 – Milan, 15 June 1980). In 1915 he enrolled at the Brera Academy. His first teachers were the disheveled caricaturist Bignami and the Cremonian academic Rapetti. In 1922 he was awarded the Hayez Pensioner's Prize. From this moment the history of his life coincides perfectly with that of his painting. He too felt the problem of overcoming post-impressionist painting and, for a short period, approached the ideas and research of the "twentieth century", welcoming the lessons of the ancients with an original poetic attitude. In 1927 he was awarded the Principe Umberto prize. Lilloni was never a great traveller, however in 1949, at the suggestion of his friend Carlo Cardazzo, he undertook a trip to Sweden and stayed for a few months in Stockholm. In the 1970s he settled in Switzerland, where he spent much of his time last years of life. Lilloni died in Milan in 1980.
