Roberta Di Camerino Biography
Roberta di Camerino is the fashion brand created by the Italian designer Giuliana Coen Camerino, born in 1920 and deceased in 2010. The designer added the name of her daughter Roberta to her surname to create a line of colored velvet bags, embroidered in gold, with coats of arms and details in green, red and blue areas.
Roberta di Camerino's first bags were designed during the period in which Giuliana and her family were in Switzerland to escape the racial laws of the fascist regime. These accessories were highly appreciated by an international audience, especially after the Second World War, when many members of high society returned to Venice, Giuliana's hometown.
The designer had great success in the United States even before the explosion of the Made in Italy phenomenon, achieved through her unique and iconic style. In January 1952, Giuliana di Camerino was invited to participate in the third edition of the Florence fashion shows as a signature of boutique fashion. Here, he presented a collection of clothes and accessories with linear shapes, suitable for travel, light in the suitcase.
In 1983, Roberta di Camerino entered into an important agreement with the Mitsubishi Corporation for the opening of Roberta di Camerino Far East and the consequent conquest of the Japanese market. In 1995, the brand was also re-evaluated on the Italian market thanks to important licensing agreements.
In the same year, Giuliana di Camerino donated clothes and accessories from the 60s and 70s to the Costume Gallery of Palazzo Pitti. Today the brand is supported by Roberta Di Camerino Brand Diffusion Venezia and by Brand Coordinator Lugano, with the Ligurian-Tuscan businessman Francesco Pellati as managing director. In addition to fashion, the brand has seen an extension of its activities into various sectors, including jewelery in collaboration with Cozza Gioielli and the home, with accessories such as bathrobes, towels, tablecloths and sheets produced by the Besana factory.
