Marzio Cecchi Biography

He was born in Capalle (Florence) on 1 March 1940 and lived there until he was 23, studying in nearby Prato, at the Cicognini boarding school and subsequently in the architecture faculty of the University of Florence where he graduated. His career as an architect began very early, at just 18 years old, at the end of high school, and his first job was in Prato (the ANNA bag shop in the main street). The success of this first experience shows the creativity, novelty and innate good taste of Marzio Cecchi who continues to work both in Prato and in Campi Bisenzio with increasingly larger works such as ballrooms, public places, with the design and construction of houses and villas which, protected by the fine arts, are still a study destination for the design courses of the University of Architecture. The family's move to Florence in 1963 offered the young architect the opportunity to show his creative and innovative talent to an increasingly important clientele. For each one he creates a new and recognizable image that combines commercial necessity with architecture. Brand new large shops open in the most important streets of the world from Florence to Rome from Paris to Dusselforf, from Tokyo to Sao Paulo, from Los Angeles to New York. Already in '68 the presentation of one of the sofas created as a prototype for a villa he designed, was presented at an international competition in Trieste, won the first prize and a special prize from "Rinascente" for "the sofa that sells by the meter ”. From this success came the sister's idea to start selling the furniture designed by Marzio Cecchi in Italy and in the world, taking care of its sale through the emerging large design furniture exhibitions. Cecchi's design still receives prestigious awards and stands out on the market for its great innovation, creativity and beauty without losing functionality, comfort and craftsmanship and over the years some pieces have also been acquired by the most important museums in the world.
