Aurelio Bulzatti Biography
Aurelio Bulzatti was born in Argenta, in the province of Ferrara, in 1954 and approached the arts from a young age. In the 70s he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he trained as an artist. Subsequently he moved to Rome, where he came into contact with the artists of Plinio De Martiis's La Tartaruga gallery. In 1983 he held his first solo show at the Tartaruga, followed by other exhibitions in 1984 and 1987. In these years, Bulzatti experimented and theorized the return to painting, the interest in the evoked image and the study of traditional painting techniques. In 1984 he was invited to exhibit at the XLI Venice Biennale, Aperto 84, and in the following years he collaborated with various art galleries, including the Netta Vespignani in Rome, with which he held two solo exhibitions in 1991 and 1995. In the 2000s , Bulzatti exhibited at Francesco Moschini's AAM in 2003 and collaborated with various cultural associations, such as Ludovico Pratesi's Futuro association, Fabio Sargentini's L'Attico cultural association and Liliana Maniero's gallery. He participated in two Quadrennials at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome in 1986 and 1996, as well as exhibiting in numerous personal and collective exhibitions throughout Italy. In 2005 he held a retrospective at the Galleria Comunale di Ciampino, Rome, while in 2007 he participated in the Arte Italiana 1968-2007 exhibition at the Palazzo Reale in Milan and held a second solo exhibition at Francesco Moschini's AAM gallery. In 2008 he held a second retrospective entitled "Passaggi 1982-2008" organized by the municipality of Argenta at the Centro Culturale Mercato. He participated in the LIV Venice Biennale Italian Pavilion in 2010 and held numerous solo exhibitions at important contemporary art galleries such as the Porta Latina gallery in 2012, the Baccina gallery in 2013 and the Le Muse di Andria cultural center in 2014. In 2013 he exhibited at Macro Arte in Rome with the exhibition "1960-2000" and in 2014 he participated in the conference "Giving Birth with Art the Art of Giving Birth" at the MAXXI in Rome. Aurelio Bulzatti continues his artistic activity today, exhibiting in important collective and personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
